The Landfill Engineer is responsible for leading, designing, supervising, and overseeing the engineering and technical disciplines needed to Successfully run the Hampton Downs Landfill. The role also Provides expert Landfill engineering advice to ensure the company is compliant with all relevant consents, plans and Environmental controls.
The Landfill Engineer develops, plans, and implement project’s relating to the Landfill Leachate management, Gas optimisation and Stormwater systems, as well as overseeing day to day waste placement planning. The role will be focussed on the efficient day to day functioning of the Landfill infrastructure, and progression through continuous improvement. The Landfill Engineer will often be the technical lead and/or designer for the Landfill operational team, leveraging substantial experience in the waste industry to ensure infrastructure is functioning efficiently, is fit for purpose, and landfill planning is well understood. The Landfill Engineer will also lead, define, and implement improvement projects focussed on Landfill infrastructure, ensuring Leachate and odour are minimised, the landfill cover and liner systems are functioning as designed, also leading improvement projects to increase site efficiency.
The role will reduce the company’s reliance on external contractors and consultants and become the repository of development IP within the wider site.
The Landfill Engineer role is focussed on the optimisation and development of landfill gas extraction system, leachate collection and disposal system and implement short-term technical landfill plans.
The role will work closely with the Site Planning and technical manager, also the environmental, Landfill and Gas to Energy team’s and contractors. Collaboration, Planning and Communication skills will be key to success in this role.
