Associate Scientist III

• Act as the scientist in-the-loop on software development, providing expertise on meteorological matters and maintaining high scientific integrity of the end product.
• Serve as the point of contact to contributing organizations and users, answering scientific inquiries and providing software structure guidance as needed.
• Assist in analyzing and evaluating model forecasts and other operational output using in-house developed software, ensuring meaningful results for users.
• Maintain high standards during the documentation and public facing web service platforms, using plain language, easy-to-understand examples, and up-to-date information and techniques.

Intergration Management

• Coordinate and manage the development, documentation, and execution of office contractor activities, spanning from procurement hiring selections to designing new internal project databases.
• Develop, refine, and oversight of simultaneous multimillion-dollar federal funding opportunity competitions from call for proposals through project grant completion using best project management practices.
• Continue personal knowledge growth on latest NWS model developments, including FV3 core development, National Water Model improvements, and FACETs integration.
• Utilize and develop expertise in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and coding to improve office efficiency and standard operating procedures.

Meteorologist

• Learn and apply Python coding language to become resident expert for simulation and forecasting analysis.
• Self-development of several new meteorological indices delivered for clients with iterative testing.
• Perform statistical analysis on existing meteorological variable datasets to identify anomalies and highlight areas for improvement.
• Develop advanced knowledge of WRF downscaling efforts, with focus on precipitation and wind speed estimates.
